All hardwood has variation in its color and grain. At Northern Oak Amish Furniture we strive to bring out the natural beauty and character of each piece of wood. This makes you furniture items unique and original so there will be no two pieces alike.
Because our furniture is real solid wood and are open grained, all the pieces will expand and contract with changes in humidity, even with the special staining finishing processes we use. Care and control of the furniture’s enviroment will minimize the minor cracking and warping that are part of the woods natural character.
Indoor humidity should be kept in the 35-40% range to minimize such effects. Additionally direct sunlight and fluorescent fixtures that contain ultra-violet rays can cause chemical changes in the wood and finish and should be avoided. Solid wood furniture should be kept away from direct sources of heating and cooling and not be stored in an attic or basement.
With proper care, solid wood furniture will provide a lifetime of enjoyment and can be passed on to future generations.
